We needed an outing and decided that it would be nice to visit a park we'd never been to before. George L. Smith was only about an hour away, so we loaded up a picnic lunch and headed over. We needed an outing and decided that it would be nice to visit a park we'd never been to before. George L. Smith was only about an hour away, so we loaded up a picnic lunch and headed over. What a delightful place it turned out to be. The location is lovely and tranquil. There were several people out on the lake, but they seemed to disappear into the trees so they didn't distract from the scenery. Part of our crew did the half-circle of the three mile trail and would have enjoyed it more if we'd have remembered to take water bottles. The part of the group that did not hike enjoyed the rocking chairs on the porch of the ranger station. Everyone had a good time exploring the bridge and mill, it's kind of different to see the mill incorporated into the bridge as it is here. Kids were glad to earn another Junior Ranger badge. Will definitely return when we need a peaceful getaway. We have our eye on the cabins at the park, they are really nice looking.
