Stone Mountain Park is a really neat place and great area in the Atlanta suburbs. Stone Mountain Park has activities for all ages including sightseeing, golf, history, stone carvings, skyride, lakes, grist mill, etc. Am scratching the surface here, please see Stone Mountain Park website for latest details. About Stone Mountain Park

My review will discuss hiking, as this is the primary activity we partake in. There are many trails. The summit (walk up) trail is difficult short hike on the yellow arrows with a rest stop along the way. The Cherokee trail is relatively flat blazed white trail around Stone Mountain. The Kings Island trail is flat and blazed purple. The trail to Convention center is connector trails. There are several other trails, please stop at Confederate Hall to get a free trail map of the park and visit the displays here. We did the summit trail, Cherokee trail, Kings Island trail, and Convention center trail today and it was a good workout of about 10 miles. Great views from the top. Great trail makers on the trails. This is one of our favorites. See my pics illustrating this. Parking is relatively expensive here (currently $20), which makes sense if you are a family planning on doing activities at the park. But we are strong hikers and park in Stone Mountain Village, which is about a 15 minute walk from Stone Mountain Park. In any case, definitely worth a stop here.
